Reggae World Unity Concert
Miami, beautiful beaches, clean streets, quiet people, and a large Caribbean contingency that loves reggae music. Reggae music has had negative publicity in most recent years, from drugs, to gun violence, even loss of life. Ultimately the negativity gave way to artist showing loss of love and respect for one another. The Reggae World Unity Concert was the first concert of 2013 that displayed positivity within the dancehall arena. On a beautiful evening in Miami, Effective Entertainment Inc. accomplished exactly what they sought out to do; display true unity within the dancehall/reggae community, there was nothing but passion and admiration for each artist and their craft, their fans were left stimulated by the dynamic cast of artist. There was no discomfort or malice on the stage of this concert in Grand Central Park, there was nothing but ire vibes and vivacious reggae music.
For every fan that attended the concert they received their money’s worth and enjoyed the cool breeze, and culture in the air. The incident free reggae concert, was the first in a long time for Miami, all artist were backed by the exclusive Ruff Kutt Band. Artist like Elephant Man, Beenie Man, Lady Saw, Cecile, Tifa, Kymani Marley, Christopher Martin, Baby Cham, Mr. Vegas and a few others, the line-up was phenomenal and each stage performance was incredible. It was a exciting to see Elephant Man on stage and to know he still knew how to command his crowd and the ladies. The Casanova Christopher Martin, sang a medley so sweet it made every lady in Grand Central Park quiver. What grabbed me was Lady Saw when she cried during her performance of “No Less Than A Woman”, it was the first time Miami witnessed a soft performance from the audacious Lady Saw. Throughout her performance she tried to stay reserved in her leather dress, but every now and again the real “Saw” surfaced and she would hike up her skirt and do a little dance move here and there.
Julianspromos Intrigue, was able to catch a quick interview with the seductive Lady Saw. Backstage, Lady Saw, spoke about her ability to raise 3 educated successful children that she adopted, her keen fashion sense, her passion for the music, and also her upcoming project including the release of her new album “Heels On”. It has been awhile since Elephant Man grace the stage of Miami, and he gave a performance of a lifetime with his half blue, half red dyed hair. When Intrigue interviewed Elephant Man he gave us a preview of his new dance “The Crocodile” and run down of all his upcoming shows. Intrigue also caught up with Cecile. When she spoke with Cecile, Cecile was excited about the birth of her new child, and spoke of why she hasn’t toured the United States, this year she plans on changing all that. The Reggae Unity Concert was a successful concert and marked the start of a positive and successful 2013 in the Reggae World. Respect to Effective Entertainment for providing a wonderful show, and to all artists that performed.
